Some wedding days just feel right from the very beginning — and Amanda and Andrew’s fall wedding at Mellwood Arts Center in Louisville, Kentucky was exactly that. A beautiful October day, perfect weather, and a venue that already carries so much character set the tone for a day that was equal parts emotional, joyful, and wildly fun.
Amanda and Andrew have known each other and been together for many, many years, and that history showed in the most genuine way. There was an ease between them — the kind that only comes from growing up together, choosing each other over and over again, and walking into marriage with deep trust and love already built in.
They chose to do a first look (which you already know I fully support — forever Team First Look over here), and it was emotional in the very best way. Seeing Andrew’s reaction as he turned around and saw Amanda for the first time was one of those quiet, powerful moments that instantly reminds me why first looks are so special. It gave them space to be present, to breathe, and to soak each other in before the day unfolded. They also were able to take this time to read each other private vows. Just for them. No performance in front of a crowd, no gawking eyes... just a promise to each other.
Amanda also shared a first look with her dad, and honestly… cue all the tears. It was incredibly sweet, heartfelt, and such a meaningful pause in the middle of the day — one of those moments that will forever live rent-free in my heart.
The color palette complemented Mellwood Arts Center perfectly. The tones worked beautifully with the venue’s industrial charm, brick textures, and natural light, making every detail feel intentional and elevated. From the thoughtfully planned details to the overall flow of the day, everything came together seamlessly.
Golden hour gave us absolute magic. Soft light, warm tones, and a couple who could not stop smiling at each other — the result was pure perfection. You could feel the love between Amanda and Andrew during those moments, and it translated effortlessly into their portraits.
As the night rolled in, the reception turned into exactly what it should be — a full-on celebration. The dance floor stayed packed with laughter, movement, and nonstop energy. Guests leaned fully into the fun, especially with the reception props: heart-shaped glasses, sparkly and light-up cowboy hats, and all-around good vibes that made for the most joyful, personality-filled photos.
Amanda and Andrew’s wedding day was a beautiful reflection of who they are — fun, deeply connected, surrounded by family and friends who adore them, and ready for their next chapter together. It was an absolute honor to capture it all.
