Let’s talk about first looks.
You’ve probably heard opinions — strong ones — whispered by well-meaning family members, TikTok commenters, and that one aunt who insists tradition is law. And while I love a good tradition moment, I’m here to tell you why first looks have completely stolen my heart as a wedding photographer… and why so many couples end up loving them too.

(And before anyone panics: no, I will never force you into one. Pinky promise.)

What a First Look Really Is:
A first look is a private moment where you see each other for the first time before the ceremony. No crowd. No pressure. No aisle full of eyes staring back at you. Just the two of you, soaking it all in.

And honestly? It’s magic.

Why I Love First Looks (Like… A Lot):
1. You get real, unfiltered emotion
When it’s just the two of you, emotions hit differently. There’s space to laugh, cry, hug, breathe, and feel without worrying about being on display. These moments tend to be incredibly genuine — and the photos reflect that.

2. It calms the nerves BIG time
Wedding-day jitters are real. Seeing your person before everything kicks off is grounding. I’ve watched shoulders drop, breaths slow, and couples instantly feel more present once they’re together.

3. You get more time together on your wedding day
This one matters. A lot.
Instead of spending most of your day apart, you get to actually experience more of it together. More moments. More memories. More “holy shit, we’re getting married” energy.

4. Timeline magic ✨
First looks often allow us to knock out a big chunk of portraits before the ceremony. That means:
Less rushing
More flexibility
More time at cocktail hour with your people
And less stress overall
Win. Win. Win.

5. Golden hour freedom
Because we’re not cramming everything after the ceremony, sneaking out for golden hour portraits becomes easy and relaxed — not rushed or chaotic. And yes… golden hour photos with zero stress? Absolute perfection.

What YOU Gain From a First Look:
-A private, intentional moment together
-More emotional, storytelling images
-A smoother, calmer timeline
-More time to actually enjoy your day
-The ability to be fully present instead of overwhelmed

It’s not about changing the meaning of the day — it’s about enhancing the experience of it.

“But Are There Any Downsides?”

Okay okay… let’s be honest.
The only real downside to a first look is breaking tradition. If you’ve always dreamed of that aisle moment being the very first time you see each other — that’s valid. That moment can be incredibly powerful too.

And guess what?
There is no wrong choice here.

Here’s the Most Important Part:
While I’m openly Team First Look, I will always respect your wishes. Your wedding day is about you, not trends, not my preferences, and not anyone else’s opinions. If you’re dead set against a first look — I’ve got you. I’ll plan your timeline beautifully, capture that aisle reaction with intention, and make sure your day flows effortlessly either way.

My job isn’t to push you.

It’s to support you, guide you, and document your day in a way that feels right for you.

Final Thoughts:
First looks aren’t about rules or expectations — they’re about connection, presence, and experience. If that resonates with you, I’ll hype you up all day long. If it doesn’t? I’ll hype you up just as hard.

Either way… your love wins. 💛
If you want to chat through what makes the most sense for your day, I’m always happy to talk it through — no pressure, just honest guidance.
